Just brilliant. I really enjoyed the deconstruction of the family mentality in the wake of the death of the patriarch. They are estranged before his death and they all return to Ghana. The book starts with the moments before the father's death, going into his last thoughts on his family. It switches perspectives between the 4 children and their mother (the man's first wife). Absolutely elegant writing about the dilemmas faced by immigrants. But wait, don't all of us feel like the odd man out most of the time. This novel truly encapsulated that feeling for me.
