I read this for a second time, actually I listened to it this time, after learning Lin-Manual Miranda read it, it was a done deal. I admit I was worried that a second reading wouldn't hold the magic that the first time did, that it wouldn't be as good as I had hyped up in head. Luckily I had no need to worry. Despite the fact that not a whole lot happens in this book, I kind of loved it. It's a great coming of age novel and it really hit on things I remember feeling as a teenager. This is easily the best coming of age novel I've read in a while. Also I generally hate romances, but this vastly exceeded expectations.

I've been putting off writing this review because this is one of those books that, while well-written and engaging enough, didn't leave me with strong feelings. I gave it four stars because the writing is quite lovely in places, and the characters, especially Dante and Ari, are incredibly vivid. I fell totally in love with Dante and his open, earnest, brave nature--just as I've adored people in my real life who are able to wear their hearts on their sleeves the way he did.
