This book is the best book I've read in quite a while.
Bryan Stevenson's compelling story about his experience as a lawyer for inmates on death row and those facing life in prisonment was utterly heartbreaking. I found myself crying for the people he was defending and counseling while in a coffee shop, on the subway, and at the beach. I couldn't help myself--this book seriously affected me.

Wish I'd read this earlier. Also wish I'd reviewed this earlier so I remembered it better. Everyone in America should read this book.

This book is so excellent I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. It should be required reading. The work that Bryan Stevenson is doing is extraordinary. The stories he tells are awful, heartbreaking, wonderful, and hopeful. I'm so impressed by what he and everyone who has worked at the Equal Justice Initiative have done and continue to do, especially when they are so steeped in the massive amounts of injustice in our criminal justice system. I definitely recommend this book.
