I'm confused about why this won an award for kids ages 8-12? Our library originally ordered it for children's, I think because of that, but we changed it over to teen. But I think this has the most adult appeal? Late teen, anyway. It's not that the content is inappropriate for kids, in terms of violence/sex/etc, but the material just has an adult-y vibe, about like, being jealous that your older sibling has a better career than you and having to get a roommate so you can pay your rent? It's not so easy being a superhero in a small town, where nothing much bad happens. Delightful and adorable comic strip about a young superhero trying to figure it all out, from getting out of her older superhero brother's shadow, dealing with roommates, finding her arch-nemesis (is it Skeptical Guy, who can ruin her day with a comment), etc. Doesn't hang together as a story so much as little vignettes. Fun stuff.

Read Harder 2017: Superhero Comic with Female Lead
I don't enjoy graphic novels or comics as much as traditional books. All the images and shifting panels slow me down. But that's one reason I'm doing Boon Riot's Read Harder challenge. It's easy to read what entertains me but I don't ever want to stop learning.
