This was deeply disappointing, filled with dull exposition, wooden dialogue, needless repetition (hi! We are the readers! We just read that part and don't need to be told again what just happened!), and clunky tell-don't-show descriptions.

Okay, so my reaction to this book was really coloured by the organ donation/theft story line; and also by annoyance at the audiobook narrator, who was a dude (the most important characters were women! the narrator should have been a woman!) who was obviously American and didn't know how to pronounce important Canadian words like Etobicoke, Premier (as in premier of a province and NOT A MOVIE PREMIERE) and Dundas. It was annoying.

Very good book about a believable future where the city of Toronto is abandoned to gags, the poor, and the orphaned. Good story about a young woman coming into her own. Also, lots of ghosts and magic.
