I love writing that makes me feel like the characters are people I know. I dreamt about Yaw as though he were a regular patron at library. And I can picture Willie taking her grand kids to the library for homework help.
I learned a great deal about the history slave trading and my heart weeps for those who endured.
I love to read first novels and this is a writer I look forward to reading more.

Such an ambitious first novel - and it lives up to the hype.

A beautifully braided tale. I love the way it was structured, each piece good enough to stand on its own as a short story, fitting together to create something unique and edifying.
