I had read a couple of short stories from this collection online and was really looking forward to reading this whole book. The two I read, which I still consider the standouts, are: "Who Will Greet You at Home" and "What It Means When a Man Falls from the Sky."

Wow! Lots of compelling stories -- some that read like Joyce Carol Oates meets Octavia Butler meets Shirley Jackson, some that read like mythology and folktales set in the real world, some that capture the weirdness of walking in two worlds, some that address heavy and ugly issues like incest and rape, and some that sharply and starkly capture the difficulties of being a woman, being in a family, being in society. This would be a great choice for an open-minded, wide-reading book group.
