I wanted so much to love this book more. I really liked it! I just wanted more out of it. I wanted more character development, less boring murder plot. I could have had that if this had been an actual novel, instead of something I could read in an hour (for full novel price).
At any rate, I loved the descriptions of the worlds, and how the kids related to them. Group therapy for moving on, or dealing with what they went through. So much good stuff, but not enough. I just feel about the murder pl ...more

Well written and very weird, I can see why this series has an enthusiastic and devoted following. Though I found it interesting and definitely wanted to know who dunnit, it wasn't quite my cup of tea. The descriptions of the worlds visited and the returning childrens' attitudes to them left me with an impression of paedophilia/Stockholm syndrome that I don't think the author intended yet I found hard to shake. Even with my reservations I am tempted to read or listen to subsequent volumes because
