Aubrey stayed put. I couldn’t take it anymore. In yet another of my well-thought-out decisions, I grabbed my cell, jumped out the car, and took off down the middle of the street. I always said I could run in four-inch heels. It was good to know I was right on that front.

My initial assumption was that Garrett's background in TV writing is the reason her book so effortless maintains a good pace and contains a fair number of realistic relationships. While this might be true, I eventually realized that the key to Hollywood Homicide's appeal (for me) is the main character's voice and her first person narration, something for which there isn't much space in TV. Dayna Anderson is an out-of-work actress in LA who is in serious need of some cash. She seed a billboard offering a generous cash reward for an unsolved murder. The photo on the billboard triggers some memories that Dayna just might want to forget.

This book was super cute, and a lot of fun. I loved all of the characters (even though main character Dayna was driving me a little nutso in the middle). One of my favorite things about the book is how Dayna describes the other people she encounters based on what part she thinks they'd play in a movie or TV show.

There's a lot of humor throughout and, surprisingly, one of the funniest moments was a confrontation with one of the witnesses.
