I love these books. I love Isiah's deep fallibility, and the fact that he has people around him who call him on it every step of the way, and I love the way Ide draws people and communities with an ease that no doubt belies incredibly meticulous thought and painstaking craft. And, also, I love that there's a character in Righteous with a "Billy Dee smile," and how nothing has ever more vividly called to mind a face so good looking that you hate every single goddamn thing about it. ...more

I received a galley of this book from Mulholland Books via NetGalley. It has not impacted my thoughts or opinions about this book.

Righteous picks up very quickly and I would recommend reading IQ first if you haven't already. IQ introduces and develops Isaiah Quintabe, the protagonist, and the world he lives in. Righteous takes that a step further and digs deeper into his brother's past and Isaiah's own personality while addressing serious issues like human trafficking, obsession, and gang violen

Oh isaiah... I hope it gets better but the title of #3 leads me to believe that is a false hope
