This was a super sweet, fun read with lots of great fashion and a genderfluid prince. I think the other themes of struggling with responsibility and career make this overall a better fit for teen/new adult readers but I think younger readers, especially those exploring their own gender identities, could get something out of it as well, and there isn't any especially inappropriate content.

It reminds me of a Disney movie if Disney would get its act together and present some openly queer characters rather than just characters who *could* be read as queer if the light hits them just right.
Fun, expressive artwork, a warm message, doesn't treat itself as an "edgy" book, which is probably the edgiest thing about it. ...more

A wonderful story with beautiful art!

Seamstress Frances makes a crazy scandalous dress for a princess who hates dresses and gets hired by Prince Sebastian, who loves to wear dresses. This is very sweet, charming, gorgeous art. I wish more had been devoted to their friendship/relationship, but I enjoyed it. And cheered for Frances's big break at the end!

4.5 stars. This is a charming graphic novel set in Paris . The central characters in the book are 16 yeR old Sebastian, the prince of Belgium, and Frances a dressmaker. The story touches on family, identity and gender roles.
