I loved this book. It's a sharply written, smart tale of a young political intern who has an affair with a much older, married congressman, as told from the POV of several women (including the intern herself, Aviva/Jane) whose lives are impacted by the scandal and fallout. This book makes many clear-eyed observations about 'scandals' of this nature and how the media react. The sky high standards of behaviour for women and the low to non-existent equivalents for men. Without the recommendation of my amazing FB book group (shout out if you want to join!), I would have never even heard of this book. I needed something light to break up my current dense book and it did not disappoint. It was easy to read (two nights) and the story was zippy and timely in that all the main characters are women. Also, I'm a sucker for any book that sprinkles in Yiddish phrases as exclamations. Oy vey! ...more
