I COULD NOT PUT THIS DOWN, I read it all in one day. I feel like the entire contents of this book were like, one paragraph in my AP US History book and I didn't know ANY of the rest of the story and the rest of the story is CRAZY.
I am not sure how to pitch this to teens because it is a really interesting story but it honestly sounds like it might be boring. But it's like a bananas spy thriller. Like. IDK IDK IDK but I definitely recommend this to adults who, like me, have heard of "the Pentagon ...more

Outstanding! Steve Sheinkin took a subject that can be a bit complicated for middle grade and YA readers and created a compelling, fast-paced, informative work of non-fiction. He also raised questions which easily connect to important contemporary issues. Well-researched, excellent bibliography and citations, photographs and maps throughout, it's a solidly crafted book. Recommended for youth and adults, as well.

I understand why it is considered “young adult”, but I would recommend this book for anyone who, like me, has only a rudimentary understanding of the Vietnam War. Everything that I knew about the war was from Presidential biographies from Truman to Nixon, and it was definitely not a complete picture.
This was a fast read- but a good overall picture.

This detailed and engrossing book will be a hit with history buffs. For anyone (including adults!) who wants to know more about the Vietnam War.
