I knew this book would be great but it took me a little while to get around to reading it--I wanted to make sure I was in the right mindset to focus on it. Anyway: it's great. Great for teens, great for adults. Written very conversationally but with such a clear through line through history. ...more

Reynolds writes this non-fiction book with the same spirit as most of his award-winning fiction for YA and Middle Grade readers – with respect and love for the audience, speaking to children like equals, engaging you page by page. Like the book this is based on, Stamped traces back to the early origins of race as a construct (actually, late in the scope of human existence) and draws it forward to present day through American History. Absolutely necessary reading and perfect for middle and high school students asking questions about George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and what is going on in America right now. The author, Jason Reynolds, is the reader, and while

Systemic issues. White privilege. Timely. Provocative. I learned a lot.

WOW! I knew that Jason Reynolds would write non-fiction as wonderfully as fiction. Stamped is such a powerful book and made so accessible here for younger audiences. The audiobook was great, hearing Reynolds read it was incredible.
