Marquez is one of the best storytellers ever. He sucks you into his world and you become one of the characters yourself. This story has a first person narrator and your there by his side the whole time. Fantastic read!

I love Marquez. He is among my favorite five authors - maybe my absolute favorite, though he may be tied with Steinbeck - and this book, though not one of his more famous works, was still masterfully-written, filled with social commentary, and magical in the way that all his books are. His indictment of society - a collection of individuals who all think someone else will take responsibility - plays out over the pages of the novel, and his phrasing, as usual, is brilliant: "When I saw her like t ...more

I really loved this book. García Márquez gets a lot across with a simple style.

Leí este libro por segunda vez, varios años después. Fue difícil leerlo, sabiendo lo que iba a pasar. Aunque claro, se sabe desde el principio, pero fue difícil leerlo sabiendo *exactamente* lo que iba a pasar. Creo que es mi libro favorito de García Márquez.
