as far as old english novels go, i prefer this to anything i've read/tried to read by jane austen (sorry, lis!). parts got randomly over-religious, but all in all, i really enjoyed it. jane is a great character and narrator, and i loved the bits of french, too. ...more

I really liked this book, though it was a bit slow at the beginning.... probably one of my favorite classic romances, (after pride and prejudice, of course). I couldn't put the book down at the end, just waiting for Jane to reunite with Mr. Rochester... sigh... ...more
