A solid 3 stars. Jack London writes in such a beautiful way. His imagery evokes emotion from the reader. Buck (and every dog, really) is written in such human-like ways that you create a bond with the character, and at times forget it's a dog. The violence is almost felt on the page. When Buck hears his call of the wild, it's a natural transition for him to follow it and the reader to expect it, as he has been slowly transforming and connecting to his savage roots.
