so the art is simple and perfect for the story. the story, the characters, the setting, the fact that this is a memoir - sometimes i wonder why anyone tries to write a traditional memoir when they could use the graphic novel form.

Persepolis is the first graphic novel that I ever read. It instantly captivated me. Marjane Satrapi tells the story of her youth in Iran and how the political and religious climate effected her and her family.

I don't really have the words to describe this one. It's an incredible example of a coming of age story, memoir, graphic novel, and describes revolution in a way many just cannot comprehend. But the abrupt ending is a bit annoying, and I wish it was one book.
