Book two in the Bartimaeus trilogy.

An enjoyable follow up to The Amulet of Samarkand. This book should not be read without reading the other first. If you liked the first book, I think you'll like this one as well. The concept of magic wrought by manipulation of demons/djinni is cool and continued here with more information about how that all works in practice.

I wasn't sure how it would hold up to being read, rather than listened to, but I greatly enjoyed it.

I can't figure this one. 3.5 stars, maybe. It's engaging, but took forever to read.
I enjoy the series despite mostly despising all the characters. Even the ones I think I'm supposed to admire. Tricky! ...more
