The last book we taught this year, chosen last summer for our Existentialist piece to bookend teaching Hamlet in the end of the fall during our Shakespearean. I'm not a big fan of R&G, though I do take some amusement from it. The kids loved certain parts of it and were absolutely flummoxed by other parts of it. Such a funny and short read. It’s really just Rosencrantz and Guildenstern rambling and discussing all sorts of nothings and everythings while trying to outwit each other. Discussions go all over the place and they and the reader get lost in these amusing thoughts. I had to google some Hamlet scenes as I read just for reference so it may be better if you’re familiar with the original. And the stage directions and music cues made it a little hard to follow at times and yet, I enjoyed it. I’d imag ...more

obviously freakin' brilliant, it still isn't my favorite stoppard. i don't even know if i like it better than Shakespeare in Love, which i feel so terrible saying, but i think that was better shakespeare than this. though this was truly hilarious, and the repeating flipping of the coin will always be great. ...more
