I think this is the most beautiful book I've ever read.

Beautifully, lyrically written. If I had a faith, I would want to feel about it the way John Ames does.
It seems a contradiction to say because the pace of the book is so slow and steady, but there were a few occasions when when it was a real page turner. I was enthralled when Jack Boughton was telling his story.

I cried a lot while reading this book, in a good way. Back in 2005, when I read it, I wrote: The writing in this is magnificent and sad and powerful. It seems holy, which sounds ridiculous I know, but. I can't tell you how gorgeous it is, and thoughtful, and it conveys such an astonishing sense of light.
