Wow. How did I wait this long to read this masterpiece? I loved Fahrenheit 451 but this one definitely takes the cake. Ray Bradbury writes this book in such poetic fashion. The language is just beautiful. As I read I could see the colors, smell the scents, feel the emotions. Every character just jumps off the page. It was like the words were passing behind my eyes in full motion picture. It was so awesome. I loved every. single. character. Good and evil. I loved the youthful innocence and curios

While it was no Fahrenheit 451 (loved, loved, loved that book), Something Wicked This Way Comes was a quick enough read and just enjoyable enough that I didn't feel like I wasted a good portion of my life reading it. I guess for me dystopian book burning trumps creepy carnivals.

seriously an amazing writer. beautiful and creepy at the same time.
[Review from 2004.] Wow, I did not like this book. The writing style really annoyed me! Bradbury should be sued for gross abuse of the one sentence paragraph. Bits of it were definitely creepy, though, so it gets points for being a good story.
This allegorical suspense tale is also a commentary on the human situation. Every parent should read the book or watch the movie...preferably both.
