Sad story, but written more as a factual account. Enjoyable read that helped me learn a bit more about the law. A terrible crime that almost wasn't even solved.

This book was excellent, but well aware of its excellence. I really got the feeling, as I was reading, that Capote knew that this was going to be his masterpiece, something that he would always be known for. I don't think that hurt the book, however; I think it lent even more weight to the vanity and self-importance of the murderers. The writing style is heavily descriptive, and very matter-of-fact. This is absolutely my favorite book in the Universe. I guess it's something about being punched in the gut with every sentence that gets me. I've read it twice and my marginalia is out of control. Let me know if you want to borrow.
