I enjoyed this book about a boy who is, well, a regular boy. He looks a little different from other boys, and he's had some health issues, but he's a regular boy with a best friend, parents who love him to death, a big sister who wants to occasionally be selfish, and a dog. At times, I had a hard time remembering that most of the characters are fifth graders and not high schoolers; I'm not sure if fifth graders are more mature than I remember being or if this is a case of "Dawson's Creek syndrom

I really enjoyed this book. Even as a Young Adult novel, the writing is mature and flows easily. Had I enough time, I probably could have finished it in one sitting. Because of its theme, I think this book should be required reading for kids in school, or a great book for families to read together. I like the strength that Auggie shows throughout the novel.
