I read this edition aloud with my 2nd grader and he loved every minute. I am a fan and collector of Ingpen's work, and his illustrations are as beautiful here as in any of his other illustrated works. Readers should know this work (The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story) includes the three short stories and poems that focus on Mowgli. It is not the seven story collection that makes up The Jungle Book in its entirety.

A short read highlighting varying relationships between man and animal. I enjoyed seeing familiar characters in new light: Mowgli, Baloo, Kaa, Bagheera. But besides what Disney has taught us of "The Jungle Book," there are several other stories included here that I also enjoyed: I especially liked the one about Kotick the seal and then, of course, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. Spring 2019, audiobook:
Guuuhhh. This was multicast and it made the experience SO Magical. I loved every bit of it, and it was glorious to watch myself transition from moments of "Ah ha! I remember that section from reading it in my early twenties" to just wistful sighing, and falling in love with the character as himself, and all those around him. I love the poetry pieces that begin to appear in the later third of the book, and the music put throughout it, and the ending quote from our beloved ...more
