While I was in graduate school, we discovered that my grandmother had Alzheimer disease. She was in her mid-eighties at the time, and she'd probably been living with the disease for a while. It's sort of accepted in our culture that 80-year-olds forge

Wow- what a powerful book! Sometimes sad, sometimes scary, but I felt like it was a very insightful look into a woman's diagnosis of alzheimer's disease and rapid progression. Knowing that she isn't really that much older than I am when she was diagnosed is a little scary, but a reminder that we need to live each day to the fullest. It was a very absorbing read (I finished it quickly) and even though I will try to read something a bit more upbeat/ light next, I would definitely want to read the

This book was a great portrait of the slow degeneration of the mind due to Alzheimer's. As the granddaughter of a brilliant man who died of complications from Alzheimer's, it was terrifying to read this story but I couldn't put it down.
