This was the worst of the three books in Pullman's trilogy. Any savvy reader knew where the Lyra/Will friendship was headed--but it had none of the drama and impact I expected. It read more like a teen romance novel. The prophesied immense choice Lyra had to make was quite weak, I thought, as was the role of the tempter. This book was a little longer and more meandering than the first two in the series, but I still loved it. It really tackled some interesting philosophical ideas.
Got me right in the feels.
