My mother picked me up for my birthday a copy of the Hogwarts Library Illustrated Collection (all three Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages, and The Tales of Beedle the Bard). While these have all been read more than once by me, it was an utterly delight to get to settle down into them for my birthday and see how they were illustrated.

This was better than the quidditch companion volume, and fun light reading. But LIGHT is the key word--I was disappointed how small this book was. did it expand my knowledge of Rowling's universe even more? yes--but not as in-depth as I'd hoped for. this book is great for kids, as a gag gift for a serious Harry Potter fan, or as a silly fun read. But don't read it expecting the book that Rowling describes in her HP series, because this isn't it.

Liked the premise behind these books. Didn't really like the books though.
Update - I just reread this book as am audio book narrated by Eddie Redmayne. I enjoyed his narration, the sound effects that have been added to this narration, and the fact that proceeds go to charity. The content in my opinion doesn't lend itself to audio. ...more
