This book literally took me 200 pages to get into. I was THIS CLOSE to giving up on it when it suddenly got wonderful and I couldn't put it down. It made me laugh so many times, and cry, and I highly recommend it (just go as fast as you can through the first half).

A fairly decent middle-aged chick-lit, only not written by a chick, written by a dude, which gives it a different flavor. It's still easy reading, though, don't get me wrong, this isn't Literary with a capital 'L'.

I assume that this book probably wraps up with a happy ending, but I read about half of it prior to leaving on a vacation and after coming home I'm just not terribly interested in picking it up again. The book is a bit of a painful exploration of a couple's courtship and marriage in which the husband loves his wife but has trouble expressing it. Possibly because of this, he always seems to be chasing her, while she tolerates his presence.

I really enjoyed this, (with all its flawed characters) but as soon as I was done, I REALLY wanted a "happy" book in my hands.
