Paris Letters popped up on my radar recently and being a lover of all things Francophile, I was excited to check it out. The book, a true story, by Canadian/Californian/Parisian, Janice MacLeod opens with her on the verge of a burnout. This book is a true 3.5 in my mind. I found it personally inspiring and it has already influenced me to attempt to make some changes in my life. In that regard it merits a 5. The narrator gets annoying -- she manages to be simultaneously smug and lacking in confidence - which brings it down to a 3. The writing is adequate, for the most part transparent but nothing special. So for writing I'd say it's a 3, which is to say better than most of the stuff out there but nothing you'd read for the writ
