"Alice" was abducted by Ray when she was 10 years old. Now 15, she has been his captive for five years. She has been repeatedly brutalized by Ray--raped, starved, threatened, and beaten physically and emotionally until she is nothing but an empty shell, a living dead girl that nobody sees or hears. She knows it's only a matter of time before Ray kills her and finds a new "Alice." But instead, he comes up with a new plan. He wants her to find a new girl for him and then help him train her.

once upon a time, there was a book being called controversial, and a girl who was drawn to it.
i suppose this isn't for the light-hearted, as this isn't what i would call a "fun" read. however, i think it's a brilliant read. so, if you don't want to pick it up, i would understand. ("alice" has been kidnapped and is now kept with ray, who abuses her in all sorts of ways.)

Woah. This is a really difficult book to read. Kidnapped as a young girl, the narrator is forced to live with her kidnapper in almost unbearable circumstances. While the subject matter was hard to read, the prose was almost too simplistic. The short chapters didn't make this any easier to read, but seemed flippant and too gimmicky for such a serious subject. I would have a hard time recommending this to most teens, but I do applaud YA fiction for taking on difficult topics that might be useful i

I don't know if I hated this or not. Reserving a star rating until I've had a chance to properly think through this.

I'm not sure how to rate a book like this.
A young girl (nine, I think) is kidnapped. We meet her at age 15. She's been held captive, raped and abused by her kidnapper for years. Now, he enlists her help in kidnapping another young girl.
Living Dead Girl was compelling but disturbing. The main character is raped several times. The rape isn't described in great detail. In some respects that makes the scenes even more disturbing.

It's hard to say that you like a book like this, but I read it in less than 3 hours, so it was definitely riveting...but in such a disturbing way.
