I liked the story and it was definitely well written but the truth is this wasn't a new story! Maybe it's because of all attention Me before you got that I had high expectations from this book and now I feel a little disappointed.

I really enjoyed Jojo Moyes' last novel and so when I saw that Me Before You was available I snatched it up. I've gotten rather picky over the last few years on contemporary women's literature and Moyes passed the test the last time around so I was hoping to enjoy this one. And guess what? I did!

This was closer to 2.5 stars. Some great storytelling, and interesting characters, but some odd choices along the way. I didn't mind the random chapters from the other characters POV, but sometimes they skipped important parts of the story.

This book was great. I am not normally a fan of books that make me cry, but I didn't mind it much in this case. I could have done without the random chapters told from the viewpoint of peripheral characters, with none told from the viewpoint of Will, but the rest of the story flowed nicely enough that I quickly got over my annoyance at those four random slip ups. In all, an interesting read that wasn't blatantly obvious too often and kept me involved throughout.

2023 update: ditto below. Apparently I did not embrace the challenge of living a bigger life completely.
2014: I loved the audio performance of this novel. The story was great, with very real, multidimensional characters. It also challenges me to think about my own life and how I can find ways to live a bigger life.

Loved it! Another great chick-lit read, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I will definitely be reading more books by Jojo Moyes.
