This. Was. So. Painful.
I feel sad saying that, because I know these books are immensely popular and I know leGuin is a huge champion in the campaign against whitewashing. I've read her nonfiction on that subject, and I think she's great. I also hate having to say this because I have to read the whole series for class, and I don't like reading things I don't enjoy. But. I did not like this at all.

One of the books listed in "1001 Children's Books" (8+) - I was surprised to see it, since I never thought of it as a "children's book." I enjoyed it a lot when I read it, but it's hardly my favorite LeGuin.
