Being negative about this book is hard because Esther Earl died of cancer as a teenager. I do think that she could have been a good writer if she'd had time to develop her skills. Her short story fragments were decent. I understand that the online community was a huge part of her life and I understand why the Skype chat and the messages were included. Cancer sucks. And it took the life of someone way too early. Yet, Esther has left the world with a message. A must read (and make sure you have tissues handy)

This is a hard one to review, it does seem that Esther was a very special girl and I appreciated hearing her story. I am not sure though that it stands out though, from other stories of families dealing with a terminally ill child.

Without a doubt cancer sucks and no parent should ever have to watch their child sick and in pain, regardless of the child's spirit. Young people sick and dying is unfair and wrong.
