Picking up Those Left Behind was like picking up another episode of Firefly, just in a different format. It was the same characters, using the same kind of words, in the same settings. (the Chinese curses seem to lose a little in print, though, probably because I can't read or even sound them out.) The artists rendered the characters' appearances a little differently than the actors, aside from the beautiful cover. I'm not a regular comic book reader, let me just be upfront. I LOVE the series Firefly and the movie Serenity, so I was more than happy to read this. I guess I just wanted *more*! It was soooo short and the transitions were choppy - I kept turning back pages to see if I had skipped some, but no, it's just really abrupt.
I'm still a sucker for this universe, so I'll probably read the others in the series. But I am glad that my library carries these. :) ...more

Not a lot happens here, and of what does happen, much of that was confusing. The art does a decent job of duplicating the faces of the actors, but it fails at the nuance and body language, and action was sometimes choppy, so I didn't always know what was going on. This didn't have that spark I loved so much in the show. Also, Laura Martin's colors are ham-handed; everyone with blue eyes had BLUE eyes, like they were glowing from using Spice ala Dune.
