POPSUGAR Reading Challenge 2018: A childhood classic you've never read.
Very appropriate that the word I'd use to describe this book is "charming". I found it particularly interesting that for the majority of the book Gwendolen seems to be who you would traditionally consider the protagonist as she's the one with the magical skills and getting into various adventures and intrigues, with Cat seemingly trailing behind her as little more than observer/narrator. I'd heard good things about Diana Wynne Jones, so I was happy to see her Chrestomanci series available for audio download online. While this was a decent distraction during my long drive over the Christmas holidays, I won't be reading the rest of the series. It was just pretty boring and the characters didn't engage or interest me.

[2005 review.] This was great! I don't know how it slipped by me when I was a kid. Tho' I confess I've been readings tons of Harry Potter lately so the shift to a totally different set of magical universe rules was kind of odd.
