so, i really wasn't that into this book at the beginning. but i was determined to finish, because i a) hate giving up on a book, and b) really needed a book set in west virginia for my 50 state challenge.
i liked kat(y). i liked dee. i even liked daemon - all at the beginning.

One of the worst books I have ever had the misfortune of reading.

This book has inspired me to create a new bookshelf: Cotton Candy. Insubstantial and ultimately unsatisfying, but so inexplicably tasty that I just can't stop. I didn't even think this book was that great, but I had the next two books in the series on hold at my library before I even finished this one.

A few thoughts....
During the first few chapters I thought "Great another twilight-ish YA remake". Think about it the female protagonist is a little accident prone, lives with one parent, becomes entangled with this group of non human beings, one of whom takes an immediate dislike to her, and one who feels drawn to her and tries to distance her, but starts to fall for her. Yet...it also pokes fun at the sparkly vampires and the teen girl who "reads too much" and has obviously drawn those same par ...more

3.5 stars. It would have been 4, except the guy character when he is being a jerk it's hard to forget the nice things he did. I will continue to read this series though.
