In true Erik Larson fashion, Dead Wake is the engaging telling of the sinking of sinking of the Lusitania. Larson clearly sifted through thousands and thousands of documents, interviews, and artifacts to bring us stories of passengers, the captain of the Lusitania, the captain of the UBoat that sunk her, and President Wilson. This book is another masterpiece from Larson. A fascinating look into the history and circumstances around this historic event. The amount of research involved boggles my mind. Larson stitches together the story from multiple perspectives and people involved; from the most common 3rd class passengers to the captain of the vessel to a youngish Winston Churchill and even the POTUS at the time. I had high hopes for this book because I love Larson's books, but I was a little disappointed with this one. It just didn't didn't feel as put together to me as his usual writing. It was just kind of blah.
