I began this book early last year as an audiobook. I had to return it to the library before I finished it. Then I went on maternity leave and wasn't in the car as much. I finally got around to requesting it again, this time in print form.

I'm really glad I decided to listen to this book, rather than read it the old-fashioned way. The production was amazing - four different readers, all fantastic. It was almost like watching a play with your eyes closed. I don't think I would have enjoyed it nearly as much in print (especially after I heard it was written in dialect).
This book entertained me, educated me, and broke my heart on numerous occasions. We all know what it was like in the south bef ...more

I ended up like the book very much, despite myself. I even teared up a bit at the end. Wonderful characters.
