[2004 review.] Wow, this was really upsetting. And makes me kind of hate all of humanity. Also is it just me or was the ending kind of jarring and deus ex machina-y?
A group of young English schoolboys are plane-wrecked on an uninhabited tropical island towards the end of the World War. An assembly is called, a leader is selected, rules are established, and assignments are distributed. Then human nature (as the author sees it) takes over and all hell breaks loose. Dirty little kids, flies, pigs heads. Good kids dying at the hands of bad kids. Just didn't seem very fun to me.
