fast read, as all patterson's are.
however, this is his best one, i think. alex is still new here, but he's familiar at the same time (no matter if you've read the books in order or not) and the racial overtones aren't as obnoxious as in along came a spider. the twists are clever, there really isn't a cheesy romantic plot to take away from anything, and there's this real appreciation of best friend/man love that just made me smile. the pages keep turning, and it is a surprising ending.

Just too dark for me.
I liked this quite a bit more than his last book.
