I generally like Picoult. But this is not her best. The story is way too long, I figured out the "twist" way too early, and the plot is way too catchy, if you will--picked conveniently right from the headlines. Of course, this is what Picoult is known for and, admittedly, this is why I often pick up her books and will probably continue to do so. Also, the amount of profanity seemed gratuitous and quickly became tiresome.

Like most of Picoult's books, or the ones of hers that I've read at any rate, I like the premise, but the twist that she always has to throw in drives me batty. That said, this twist wasn't as asinine as the one in My Sister's Keeper, but I would like to read a book of hers without something to screw with the story. The writing is good, the concept is good... it could just use some work on the conclusion.

I would really recommend this to someone interested in getting another perspective/insight on the epidemic that is hitting our schools. I was listening to this at the same time I was reading "The Pact" and actually had a hard time keeping them straight- a boy, a girl, two sets of parents, a trial, a truth, a pregnant girl... just a little frustrating from that angle. Wow, another hit from Picoult. Once again, she successfully humanizes the "bad guy," and grabs her reader and doesn't let go. This is told in a way unlike the other books I've read of her work in that it's told by an omniscient narrator and switches time to tell the story in a spiral--her other books tell the story from varying point of views.

this must have been such a difficult book to write, and i commend Jodie Picoult for tackling this subject head on. This could be any high school, in Anytown, USA. I think the high school characters are identifiable by anyone. This book is a prime example of what pushing one person to their limit can do.

I would give this book 3.5 stars if I could--- It was an enjoyable read but was a bit predictable. I liked "Sister's Keeper" more.
