What Members Thought

I own a lot of books I haven't read yet. It's not because I don't WANT to read them, oh, no - it's because I ALSO check a lot of books out of the library, and those books have due dates, so I read them first. So this year I decided to list out the books I own that I haven't read yet, and assign them to a playing card, and using that method, The Lies of Locke Lamora was slated to be the first of these books I finally read.

I almost never re-read books, but I can see myself revisiting this one to see if I can catch the clues and breadcrumbs that lead to such a complicated and masterfully executed final act.

I really enjoyed the audiobook version of this story, it was a great performance. I'm looking forward to listening to more as the series continues!

I loved the first half
I enjoyed the characters and the first half of the plot as they fooled everyone. But that middle bit when the violence started knocked this book down in enjoyment. The writing was really goid and there were a lot of twists and turns, but not so much happiness.
