I don't usually read Nora Roberts because sappy romances aren't for me. However, this book sounded intriguing with its suspenseful plot and subplot involving search and rescue dogs. Sure, there was the requisite 'boy meets girl' who do what passionate couples do, but the romance was not the overall theme of the book.

This is a Nora Roberts steamy,mostly cliche' yet entrancing the rest of the time romance. You know what your getting and try not to roll your eyes too much during the overly written sex scenes.
This is the story of Fiona, a trainer of search and rescue dogs. She is dealing with a ghost from her past in the form of the serial killer who nearly added her to his list. I enjoyed this more than the last Nora Roberts I read, perhaps because it doesn't include the large, intensely affectionate and close family unit that she gravitates towards. Fiona is basically on her own, with her dogs and her step-mother and a few close friends. Simon is also basically alone, starting over in a new place. It's his puppy that brings them together, where the sparks that Roberts is great at fly. Even the dog training and search-and-rescue stuff was interesting. The suspense eleme ...more

i enjoyed it...i just wish it didn't have the same name and lead heroine type as a iris johansen book...simply changing the title would have worked for me ...more
