When my upper elementary students ask for horror recommendations, I can now confidently offer them one that I've read. This book definitely had the spooky, creepy factor going for it, and that's something a lot of students ask for. I was unfamiliar with the Haitian folklore "The Magic Orange Tree" so this setting, characters and story were all fresh and new for me. I loved the creativity and descriptions of the jumbies!
