"It was a story of a son who felt his one true birthright was to kill his father. It was the story of a father who could not undo a single gesture of his life, no matter the sympathies of his heart. It was a story of poison, poison that causes you to weep in your sleep, that comes to you first as a taste of ecstasy. It was a story of people who don’t choose life over death until it’s too late to know the difference, people whose goodness is forgotten, left behind like a child’s toy in a dusty p ...more

While the story was OK, the depth of the story line was comprimised by the excessive explorations of the two main characters sexual thoughts. Didn't like it. ...more

I picked this one up when Borders went out of business, simply because it looked really twisted and interesting. When I started reading, I turned to Goodreads and read lots of not so great reviews, some of which came from good friends. People complained that the book was so filled with sex and lust, it was on every single page. Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh.

Wow, I'm on a streak when it comes to books that seem to wallow in graphic sexual scenes. Also, now I'm depressed.

This is definitely one of the best books I've read in a long time. From page one, I was sucked in. The author does a fantastic job of allowing the reader to feel like he or she really gets to know Catherine and Ralph, and you can't help but loving them both. It moved at a great pace, answered all of my questions, and seemed to end at just the right point. I'd highly recommend it to any reader. ...more

I enjoyed the story for the most part and the reader did a nice job with both male and female voices. Some good plot twists, but never really liked any of the characters. The story revolves around a woman who travels to Wisconsin as a "mail-order" bride but has other plans than what her husband-to-be is expecting. Don't know if I would recommend to anyone. ...more
