An incredibly fun sci-fi romp that quickly becomes a much more serious can-the-heroine-save-the-world tale. I had no idea how this book was going to end. Wow. Well done!

Uggghh I feel like this book has so much potential but just doesn't execute it well, which is really frustrating because I had such high expectations due to all the praise I've seen for it!

I do like the style of telling a story through reports, emails, chats, and things like that, but I feel like the voice throughout is too similar. No matter the "officer" giving the report or the characters involved in the chat, their sense of humor and snarkiness is the same. And I like snarky! but if you do ...more

4.5 stars. I bought this book for Connor, thinking he would like it, but I became intrigued by it after reading about it in an article of best YA books you don’t know (I think). I placed the audiobook on hold at the library and when I got it and started listening, I almost returned it - solely based on the voice in the intro. But I gave it a shot and I’m so glad I did.
