Shelves: gothic, favorites, 2010, mystery, fiction

If you are wanting a light-hearted romantic book, this is not the one for you. If you are wanting a mystery that skims the surface of it's plot and characters, this is not the book for you. If you are looking for a book to endear Barcelona to your heart and make you believe that it's a city full of light and romance, then this is definitely not the story for you.

I really wanted to like this book. There are some beautiful parts and I am still a fan of the author, but this one was quite complicated and the ending felt like it was just put together quickly. Not fulfilling, but I look forward to the next book.

Disappointed.

I am upping my review from 2 stars to three as I listened to the audiobook in 2019. It was a little easier to understand this time. I think my disappointment before was due to the nature (gore, devil, evil) of the writing. It’s so stinking dark and sad.
