I'm kind of at a loss to write about my feelings for this book. I'm glad I read it now, in young-middle-age, because it resonated with me where I can see where the actions and paths I took in my youth lead me to where I am now.
Though I was not part of some revolutionary movement in India that could have led to my death, of course, like one of the main characters in this novel (not so much a spoiler).

Last night I was up until 2am, wringing every last word out of this seemingly small, simply-covered book. The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri made it past my self-imposed "read literature from places other than India for once" barrier because it has been put on the Man Booker shortlist as well as on the National Book Award list and, therefore, it must be read.
