Enjoyed this one!

This is the first Agatha Christie I've read in a long time that I've just thoroughly enjoyed, start to finish. One thing she was great at was creating sharp characters (did they act like real people? Who cares), and this book is full of them. It's almost a character study of a small town, and the detective didn't show up until most of the way through the book. While Miss Marple does catch the killer, she isn't critical to enjoyment of the story. Narrator Jerry and his sister Joanna (and their be

Done! Loved this one, the characters were delightful. There were a couple of insensitive words which always shock me and take me out of the story. Even though it was first published in 1942, I always wonder why don’t they don’t just them out of newer versions. Overall, a charming story that makes me want to travel to England and solve a murder.

I am working my way through Ms. Christie’s books, and this is the ninth book I have read, and so far my least favorite. It probably didn’t help that the audiobook version I read, was performed by a female actor when the narrator of the book was a man.
There was too little Miss Marple, and I just didn’t like the plot, setting or characters much.

Reread this for ReadChristie 2023: still the same feeling, a bit disappointed that Miss Marple came a bit too late in the book. Also not really a fan of the love story (especially the one of the narrator's, lol). But I like the narrator and his sense of humor, and the small village setting is quite interesting. Somehow, this book reminds me of Murder is Easy.
